The Decker House Hotel

A Visionary's Dream Still Lives

The Decker House Hotel was the dream of a man who felt the booming town of Maquoketa deserved a grand hotel. James Decker originally hailed from Watertown New York. He had a reputation for nice things and his hotel was no exception. It’s grand staircase is an iconic statement of Maquoketa itself.

The hotel is on the National Historic Register. It is open for bookings and private events.

The Maquoketa Cave bar located in our basement lounge. A 200k dollar remodel of the basement lounge of the Decker House.

7 Horses Restaurant will be a classic American Restaurant where guests can get a taste of Jackson County Iowa’s best food. Steaks, Chops, Seafood, fresh salads and the best drinks. Scheduled to open in late November.

Exciting things are afoot as the hotel approaches it’s Sesquicentennial. Guests who stays at the Decker House Hotel is granted golfing privileges to the Maquoketa Country Club with the purchase of a very reasonable Green Fee. Guests who stay here are granted a discount on with the Maquoketa River Rentals. While the Decker House Hotel does not have a gym within it’s walls any guests is granted access to the YMCA at no additional costs.
